More Stories and Information on Fort Tours Road Trips

Mineral Wells spreads out through some beautiful hilly countryside whose appearance is nearly as surprising as the now abandoned but still majestic Baker Hotel. A good portion of 180 is paved with red bricks which, as a boy, seemed to serve as a sort of "red carpet" to the luxurious hotel and the only swimming pool between Fort Worth and Abilene. Don't miss Woody's on the east side of Mineral Wells. It has terrific hamburgers and is a fun place to visit. Continue east on 180 past the Grindstone through Weatherford.
