Michael has a BA in History & American Studies and an MSc in American History from the University of Edinburgh. He comes from a proud military family and has spent most of his career as an educator in the Middle East and Asia. His passion is travel, and he seizes any opportunity to share his experiences in the most immersive way possible, whether at sea or on the land.

Rebel State Historic Site is located approximately 25 miles west of Natchitoches on La. 1221. Interstate travelers should take the Natchitoches/Many exit and head west to Robeline then turn onto La. 120 to Marthaville. The site is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years) and features the Louisiana Country Music Museum, an amphitheater and picnic area. Admission to the museum is $2 per person . Schools groups, Church groups, Children ( 3 and under) and seniors (62 and over) are admitted free.

Come and enjoy the food, the fun, the friends and the festivities at the 5th Annual Rebel Spring Festival . The festivities will begin on April 28 at noon, with an assortment of food and arts and crafts on the grounds. At 7 p.m. , the 7th Annual Rebel Harmonica Contest will kick off the weekend music celebration. On Saturday, we will have musical performances throughout the day, a hog calling contest and a dulcimer workshop and contest. So, bring the family and plan to have lots of fun!
