Entering the Post

Anyone entering Fort McPherson and Fort Gillem should be prepared to show a military-issued identification card.  Anyone entering either post also should be prepared to have their vehicle inspected as they enter the installations -- a process that may greatly increase the amount of time necessary to get on post.

At Fort McPherson, the Main Gate is open 24 hours. At Fort Gillem, McIntosh Gate (at Moreland Avenue) is open 24 hours. Iverson Gate (at Jonesboro Road) is open for both entering and exiting traffic from 6 until 9 a.m., from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. and from 3:30 until 6 p.m. The Iverson Gate is closed weekends and holidays.
